Look at the bench area

Is there dust extraction? Is the lighting good? These decide your eyes and lungs over twenty years.

Ask about hours in season

Festival and wedding seasons stretch everyone. Ask what the peak actually looks like.

Check the basics

Drinking water, a place to eat, a clean toilet. Their absence tells you how staff are regarded.

Ask about payment dates

Not the amount — the date. Late payment is the most common complaint in this trade.

Talk to one karigar who already works there

If you are not allowed to, that is your answer.
