PF, ESIC and Your Rights as a Jewellery Worker in India

Many karigars work for years without knowing what they are owed. Here is the short version.

Provident Fund

Establishments above the employee threshold must deduct and contribute PF. It is your money and it follows you between jobs through your UAN.

ESIC

Medical cover for you and your family, at a wage level most bench staff fall under.

Payslips

You are entitled to a record of what you were paid and what was deducted. Ask for it in writing.

If something is wrong

The regional PF office and the labour department both accept complaints from workers directly.
